Best thing to do is ignore it... at best its misquoted rubbish...
The hoard was excavated by archaeologists after being told by the detectorists.. who after all did the right thing by recording it.! just wish they had gone sooner...

From the photos, the idea of this 3 ft hole does not add up... I feel its just a bit of exaggeration ..
