Countryside Archaeological Adviser

£19,239 to £23,166 per annum (with possible progression to £27,394 per annum)

Permanent, Full-time

Based at Yoredale, Bainbridge

The Yorkshire Dales National Park protects the fragile heritage of some of the finest landscapes and wildlife habitats in Europe.  Some 24,000 residents live and work in our 2,179 square kilometres, and we welcome more than four million visitors every year who come to experience the National Park’s wonderful wildlife, scenery and cultural heritage. This is a permanent role that provides conservation advice on the management of the historic environment to farmers, landowners and external agencies, as well as to the National Park Authority (NPA).

You will be educated to at least degree level in a discipline such as archaeology or heritage management and will have significant experience of heritage conservation in a rural environment.

The post is based within a small historic environment team, and will involve extensive use of the NPA’s Historic Environment Record. Strong IT skills, including knowledge of GIS and complex databases would be an advantage.

As well as conservation projects, the role will manage survey work and data collection, and involve working with volunteers to deliver some of the NPA’s key corporate targets, including the monitoring of 294 scheduled monuments.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals with both people and technical skills.   The Countryside Archaeological Adviser is a full-time position, however this opportunity may also suit applicants seeking to job-share.

If you feel as though you meet these requirements we would like to hear from you.

Further information and application forms are available on the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority website at www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/vacancies  .  They can also be obtained by e-mail from personnel@yorkshiredales.org.uk or by telephoning 0300 456 0030.
