Human Resources Oxford Archaeology Janus House Osney Mead Oxford OX2 0ES

Oxford Archaeology is one of the largest independent archaeological practices in Europe. Our size and reputation ensures that we work on the most exciting and varied range of projects, and can offer real opportunities for long term employment and career development.

We are looking for skilled, experienced and enthusiastic archaeologists to join our team at OA.
Although it can be advantageous to be based within reach of one of our three regional offices (in Cambridge, Lancaster and Oxford), we have opportunities on projects throughout the country and are therefore interested in applications from people anywhere in England and Wales.

OA East
We have several projects in the vicinity of both Cambridge and Norwich for which staff are needed over coming months.  This includes work on later prehistoric landscapes, Romano-British settlement and industry, rural Saxon remains and urban medieval sites. We will also be excavating more late-prehistoric settlement on the Essex-Herts border and are expecting to need staff for work in south Suffolk.

OA North
We are currently undertaking a large-scale excavation of a late Iron Age/Romano-British site near Newark, as well as on-going multi-period excavations in East Yorkshire. We also have a strong programme for excavations we expect to start in the near future in other areas of Yorkshire and Merseyside and, as a result, are looking to recruit several additional field staff for upcoming predominantly away-based fieldwork.

OA South
We are currently undertaking a large number of projects both in the Oxfordshire area and further afield. Forthcoming larger projects include a number of Late Iron Age - Roman excavations in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, a late prehistoric site in Worcestershire, a Roman villa in Somerset and multi-phase excavations in Kent.

We operate a policy of single rooms for all away-based staff.

Successful candidates will initially be offered a 12 week contract (37.5 hours per week) after which permanent contracts will be offered, dependent upon sufficient work being available and candidates demonstrating satisfactory performance and competence for the role.
