The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 4. The salary range will be £18,412 - £20,046 per annum, excluding London Allowance.
 
Operating out of offices in East Sussex, Essex and London Archaeology South-East (the Field Unit of the Institute of Archaeology, UCL) requires staff to work on excavations in southern England.   The successful applicant will be required to excavate, draw, describe, and (if required and able) photograph archaeological features and deposits. Wash, mark and undertake basic quantification of finds and assist with the processing of bulk soil samples.
 
Applicants should be competent at general excavation and recording techniques and have a careful and methodical approach to work. Ideally the applicant will have a degree in archaeology or with major archaeological component. Membership of Chartered Institute of Field Archaeologists (CIfA) at Practitioner (PIFA) or Affiliate level is desirable. A working knowledge of at least some period(s) of British archaeology is essential as is proven experience of archaeological fieldwork.
