Home-based, part-time 25hrs/week

An exciting vacancy has arisen for a Field Monument Warden in Cadw’s busy Historic Environment Branch. Cadw is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service working for an accessible and well-protected historic environment for Wales.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised and motivated archaeologist or heritage management professional with good communication skills interested in working with owners to help them care for and manage their scheduled monuments. This home-based  post will cover Ceredigion and parts of surrounding counties, and involves widespread travel, often to remote areas.

Based within our Historic Environment branch, your key task will be visiting scheduled monuments of all types and periods, assessing their condition and advising on their management.  You will produce condition reports, prepare management plans and meet owners to provide management advice.  There will also be opportunities to work with owners, local communities and heritage groups on projects to improve the condition and presentation of scheduled monuments.

To join us, you will need a good degree in archaeology or a related subject, together with good knowledge of the archaeology and history of Wales and a familiarity with archaeological monuments of all types and periods.  Membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) and experience of working on archaeological fieldwork and/or heritage management projects is desirable.

Most monuments are on farmland or in open countryside; many are in remote and upland locations only accessible by car and foot. For this reason you will need to hold a full driving licence and be capable of working safely and alone in remote environments.  Health & safety equipment and training for accessing remote sites will be provided.

The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage in this role.

In return for your dedication, you will benefit from our commitment to your on-going personal and professional development along with favourable terms and conditions.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please call Polly Groom on 03000 259132 / 07800 821651  or Kate Roberts on 03000 259013.

Mae swydd wag gyffrous wedi codi ar gyfer Warden Henebion Maes yng Nghangen brysur Amgylchedd Hanesyddol Cadw. Cadw yw gwasanaeth amgylchedd hanesyddol Llywodraeth Cymru sy’n gweithio i sicrhau amgylchedd hanesyddol hygyrch a ddiogelir yn dda i Gymru.
Rydym yn chwilio am archeolegwr neu reolwr treftadaeth proffesiynol brwdfrydig a threfnus sy'n llawn cymhelliant, gyda sgiliau cyfathrebu da a diddordeb mewn gweithio gyda pherchnogion i'w helpu i ofalu am eu henebion cofrestredig a'u rheoli. Bydd y swydd hon (gweithio o gartref) sy'n cwmpasu Ceredigion a rhan o’r siroedd o’i gwmpas yn golygu cryn dipyn o deithio, yn aml i ardaloedd anghysbell.

Wedi eich lleoli o fewn ein cangen Amgylchedd Hanesyddol, eich tasg allweddol fydd ymweld â henebion cofrestredig o bob math a chyfnod, gan asesu eu cyflwr a rhoi cyngor ar sut i'w rheoli.  Byddwch yn llunio adroddiadau ar gyflwr henebion, paratoi cynlluniau rheoli a chyfarfod perchnogion i roi cyngor ar sut i'w rheoli.  Bydd cyfleoedd hefyd i weithio gyda pherchnogion, cymunedau lleol a grwpiau treftadaeth ar brosiectau i wella cyflwr a golwg yr henebion cofrestredig.
I ymuno â ni, bydd angen i chi feddu ar radd dda mewn archeoleg neu bwnc perthnasol ynghyd â gwybodaeth dda am archeoleg a hanes Cymru. Bydd angen i chi hefyd fod yn gyfarwydd â henebion archeolegol o bob math a chyfnod.  Byddai aelodaeth o Sefydliad Siartredig yr Archeolegwyr (CIfA) a phrofiad o weithio ar waith maes archeolegol a/neu brosiectau rheoli treftadaeth yn ddymunol.
Mae'r rhan fwyaf o'r henebion ar ffermdir neu mewn cefn gwlad agored; gyda nifer ohonynt mewn lleoliadau anghysbell ac uchel, y gellir ond eu cyrraedd mewn car ac ar droed. Oherwydd hyn, bydd angen i chi feddu ar drwydded yrru lawn ac yn gallu gweithio yn ddiogel ac ar eich pen eich hun mewn amgylcheddau anghysbell.  Darperir cyfarpar iechyd a diogelwch a hyfforddiant ar gyfer cyrraedd safleoedd anghysbell.

Fe fydd y gallu i siarad Gymraeg yn fantais yn y r?l hwn.
