We are looking for enthusiastic and committed archaeologists and supervisory staff to join our friendly and approachable team, based at our head office in the thriving and affordable University City of Lincoln (we’re not just saying that, it’s really lovely here!), and with the opportunity to be involved in projects throughout England. We currently employ around 40 staff but retain the values of a small company, giving staff of all levels the chance to be involved in a variety of aspects of survey, GIS, photography, excavation and post-excavation work.

We value the professional development of our employees and have a strong ethos (and an ATF Award) in training and mentoring staff. We have a track record of supporting staff by offering focused training plans, support with educational courses, paid attendance at professional conferences and meetings with industry experts.

In line with our policy of providing job security to our staff, permanent contracts will follow the successful completion of 3 month probationary period. Appointments will be made according to the level of experience of the successful candidates. Please note that application for the senior roles is by application form.

Project Archaeologists
£18,903.77 to £19,485.42

Do you have at least three months field experience in commercial archaeology in the UK? We are looking for five new archaeologists to join our team. CSCS card and membership of CIfA are preferred.

Project Supervisor/Project Officer/Senior Project Officer (Grade A2.2-4.2)

Are you and experienced Project Supervisor or Project Officer? We are looking for two new team members to help lead a range of projects. If you have a strong ability in archaeological field practices, good report writing skills and a positive and enthusiastic attitude, why not join us?

For the role of Project Supervisor you will have at least 3 months experience of supervising commercial fieldwork projects such as watching briefs and small evaluations in the UK, working on your own and/or leading small teams.

For the role of Project Officer/Senior Project Officer you will have at least 12 months experience of supervising commercial fieldwork projects in the UK, proven experience of supervising large and complex fieldwork projects, of successfully coordinating and completing post-excavation analysis and reporting within set timescales. Publication experience is desirable (and essential at Senior level). You must have excellent communication and inter-personal skills and a strong record of team leadership.

Essential
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of British archaeology of all periods
  • Experience of post-excavation analysis and reporting
  • An enthusiasm and strong ability in field archaeological practices
  • Willingness to work on your own or leading a team
  • A courteous and professional manner and a positive outlook
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Attention to detail
  • Driving license
Desirable
  • Relevant archaeological qualification
  • Experience of drawing packages such as AutoCAD and/or CorelDraw and of GIS (essential for the PO role)
  • CSCS card
  • CIfA membership
