Oxford Archaeology is one of the largest independent archaeological practices in Europe. Our size and reputation ensures that we work on the most exciting and varied range of projects, and can offer real opportunities for long term employment and career development.

OA East
OA East continues to expand and so we are looking for experienced staff to join our field teams at all levels. We have field projects underway that mean we can already offer work in both Cambridgeshire and Norfolk throughout much of 2018. We are therefore particularly interested in candidates located in these areas. We also have other excavations elsewhere in the eastern region.  We can therefore offer work for both home and 'away' deployments depending on location  and  preference.   The  projects  include  work  on  rural  Romano-British  and  Saxon occupation sites and on rural medieval industry. We also need people with urban archaeological experience for excavations in Ipswich and Norwich.

OA South
OA South currently has a busy programme of exciting excavations lined up for 2018 and we have opportunities for staff on projects in Oxfordshire and further afield in counties including Kent, Dorset, Wiltshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire.  Current and forthcoming investigations include a Roman villa, numerous Roman and Iron Age settlements, prehistoric landscapes including round barrow excavations, urban Saxon and medieval investigations rich in artefactual material, with opportunities to excavate burials and get involved in environmental and geoarcheaological investigations.

The range of our work provides many new challenges and learning experiences for our staff and a host of interesting locations to undertake archaeological fieldwork, as well as opportunities to help us bring the results of our work to the wider community through our outreach programmes (see  https://oxfordarchaeology.com/community-training).

We operate a policy of single rooms for all away-based staff.

Successful candidates will normally be offered a 12 week contract (37.5 hours per week) after which permanent contracts will be offered, dependent upon sufficient work being available and candidates demonstrating satisfactory performance and competence for the role.
