Senior Archaeologist, Geoarchaeologist
The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6. The salary range will be £24,983 - £29,799, exclusive of London Allowance.
Archaeology South-East (the Field Unit of the Institute of Archaeology, UCL) requires an experienced geoarchaeologist. The post-holder will play a key role in the design and delivery of our research in geoarchaeolgical, palaeoenvironmental or prehistoric archaeology and will be responsible for maintaining and developing specialist skills in these areas. Supported by our project management team the duties will involve undertaking fieldwork investigations, post-excavation processing, deposit modelling and reporting, and some supervision of geoarchaeological staff. Duties also include the development of standards and practices within the discipline. ASE operates out of offices in East Sussex, Essex and London and there is flexibility in the location of this role. If the preferred office location is either Sussex or Essex London Allowance will not be applicable.
Applicants should have a good working knowledge of British archaeology of all periods and a comprehensive knowledge of field practice with sufficient previous experience of geoarchaeological fieldwork to understand professional working practice. Candidates will need to co-ordinate and supervise field operations and/or specialist research to satisfy a project brief / specification in an efficient and cost-effective manner, and prepare logical, coherent and comprehensive reports on the basis of their analysis of complex field data.
