We are a Registered Organisation with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and have ISO 9001:2008 certification. Our customers range from leading multinational corporations and government agencies to local government bodies and single partner consultancies. CFA follows a policy of equal opportunities for employment, training and other conditions of service.

Due to continued growth across our business and a range of large projects ahead, CFA is looking to appoint a permanent Graphics Officer in our busy Leeds office beginning as soon as the successful candidate is available. This is a great opportunity to join a long established and highly regarded company that prides itself on delivering quality services to clients, whilst providing continuous staff development and training opportunities. Further details of the benefits of working for us can be found by using the 'Compare' page of BAJR.

You will have a qualification in archaeology and/or graphics with a minimum of six months experience in archaeological illustration. You will be required to work as part of a friendly office locally but also as a member of our graphics team working UK wide, sharing projects according to scheduling needs. You will be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines originating both from the Leeds office but also other CFA offices.

Applicants would ideally have good experience in the following: GIS mapping software (preferably ArcMap): AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign. Experience in artefact and pottery illustration would be an advantage. You should have a good knowledge of, or experience in, archaeological fieldwork procedures. CIfA membership preferred.

Abilities required:

  • Meticulous with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication skills with an ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good written English skills

Let us know if you have any other relevant experience, for example photogrammetry, photography, historic building surveying, use of total station and/or GPS/GNSS and site planning.

Please apply in writing (via email), enclosing a CV with examples of your illustration work.
