Job title: Junior Graphic Designer/Illustrator or Graphic Designer/Illustrator

Line Manager/Reporting to: Design Manager
Location: Edinburgh/Silsoe/Hereford

We are currently recruiting for a Graphic Designer/Illustrator to join our fast paced and dynamic Creative Team here at Headland. In this role, the Graphic Designer/Illustrator will play an integral part in producing and delivering the creative output for the company. Entry grade is dependent on existing experience level.
This could be a great entry level role for an ambitious graduate or for a more experienced illustrator who wishes to further advance their career. Training will be provided as needed in Edinburgh at the beginning of the employment, length of training dependent on existing skill level.

Main responsibilities

  • Creation of technically correct artwork, implementing brand guidelines and styles to layouts.
  • Take responsibility and fully support the creative team in day-to-day activities to ensure projects are delivered to brief and on time.
  • Digital housekeeping including filing and archiving.

Essential skills

Desirable skills

  • Professionally qualified / educated to degree level, plus experience or proven aptitude in a design related skill.
  • Interest and/or knowledge of history/archaeology/heritage or similar.
  • Excellent creative standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Dedicated, confident and passionate.
  • Self-motivated and a team player.
  • Excellent proficiency in PC.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, along with basic skills in Word (training is available).
  • Experience of spatial and/or archaeological illustrations.
  • Experience of archaeological fieldwork or survey.
  • Working knowledge of all or any of the following design suites: AutoCAD / DraftSight, Blender, QGIS / ESRI GIS, Surfer, PhotoScan, SketchUp, HTML/CSS, Python, video editing.
  • General IT troubleshooting.
