The Environment Team is a busy, professional and friendly team made up of qualified Archaeologists and Ecologists. Together we work to protect, promote and manage the unique historic and natural environment of Buckinghamshire.
We maintain the Buckinghamshire Historic Environment Record (HER) and Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Environmental Record Centre (BMERC), providing access to up to date historic and environmental data across the whole County. Buckinghamshire is currently experiencing a huge amount of growth.
Working with us will give you the chance to work on major infrastructure projects (such as Hs2 and East-West Rail) as well as large and small-scale developments, and engage in partnership work with some of the key archaeological stakeholders in the region.

About the role
As an Archaeology Officer you will lead on providing heritage advice to five local planning authorities and oversee archaeological fieldwork within Buckinghamshire. Working with the Senior Archaeologist, you will provide archaeological advice on major infrastructure projects such as HS2, flood schemes and road/rail schemes.
You will also deliver activities to promote the service including presentations, open days and displays.

The successful candidate will have experience of archaeological planning casework with knowledge of local government planning policy and practice.
Good communication and interpersonal skills as the successful candidate will be required to do regular presentations to the public and explanation of archaeological issues to Members, stakeholders and colleagues.
Have good use of Microsoft systems and specialist HBSMR software, including GIS.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent in archaeology or a related discipline.
A full membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (MCIfA) is desirable.
