Here at Archaeology Warwickshire, we believe that our most important asset is our staff. Our 'enjoy work' ethos translates into unrivalled potential for advancement in our dedicated, friendly team. We don’t hire people merely for digging, although excavation will be a core part of the post, and we encourage all staff to be multifaceted and flexible archaeologists ready and able to take on new challenges with the support of more experienced colleagues.

We are offering positions on a CIfA approved training scheme designed to enable graduates with little or no experience to acquire the knowledge and skills required to develop a career in commercial archaeology.

Trainees will gain industry leading experience in a wide variety of techniques and processes, measured against prescribed learning goals.

Graduate Trainees will be offered a twelve week contract, after which they will assessed using the Learning Record. If they have achieved the necessary level of competence, they will be eligible for the second twelve week phase of the Training Programme. Discretionary extensions of six weeks for each phase may be granted: the process will therefore take a minimum of 24 weeks and up to a maximum of 36 weeks.

Working hours will be dependent on the project to which a Trainee is assigned. Flexi time will apply although normal working hours will be 8am to 4pm. The minimum working week is 37 hours. Additional travel time over and above the daily commute to Warwick will be paid at the hourly rate or may be taken as lieu leave. Full accommodation and subsitance is provided for away work.

We are looking for candidates with a degree, preferably in archaeology, or a post-graduate qualification in archaeology; a demonstrable commitment to learning the skills required of an archaeologist; a willingness to work outdoors in all weathers; an ability to demonstrate enthusiasm for archaeological research; and considerate team players.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to chat informally with any of our staff for a personal view of working in our team - call our main office 01926 412280 in normal working hours
