Due to the forthcoming retirement of a long-serving manager, SUMO Geophysics Ltd, part of the SUMO Group, is looking to appoint a full-time Project Manager to manage archaeological geophysical projects and teams. Working with the Sales Co-ordinator, the role entails client contact, overseeing fieldwork teams, data processing and interpretation, CAD / GIS work and report production.

The candidate will have extensive experience at Project Officer level and/or Project Manager level. Additional experience of client engagement plus health and safety responsibility is desirable. The ability to work closely with an established team and meet work deadlines is essential.

It is expected that the candidate would have an excellent knowledge of Archaeological Geophysics and its practice within a commercial archaeological environment; a basic knowledge of planning and heritage policy is also required. The candidate will have good communication skills and the ability to manage staff with tact and diplomacy.

The role will be office based but the candidate will be required to make site visits and attend meetings. A clean driving licence is essential and a SMSTS qualification is desirable. MCIfA membership is essential or to be achieved within 6 months. The initial contract will be a probationary 6-month contract. The candidate should hold a degree in Archaeological Sciences or Geophysics, ideally at Post-graduate level.
