AOC Archaeology Group is one of the leading heritage companies in the UK.  We have one of Britain’s largest and most experienced teams of in-house artefact, ecofact and conservation specialists, and we are currently recruiting for a Post Excavation Project Officer to join the team in our Edinburgh office to work on a diverse portfolio of projects.

We are interested in applications from experienced artefact specialists, knowledgeable in British and Scottish material culture, to assist with our increasing programme of post excavation. A demonstrable track record of reporting is essential. A publication record and an understanding of the commercial archaeological sector would be advantageous.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career with a forward-looking archaeological company, and an organisation that believes in investing in and developing its staff in order to achieve the highest professional standards.

It is vital that you are a good team member with a positive and enthusiastic approach to archaeology. You should be self-motivated and able to work independently and under your own initiative. It will be necessary to undertake site visits, and to work with colleagues in our other offices, which may require overnight stays. Accommodation and subsistence are provided, along with transport to and from site.

CIfA membership is desirable, as is a CSCS card. A clean driving licence is essential.

The post is full time; applications for part-time work will be considered.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, in line with CIFA and BAJR guidelines; appointments will be made on the basis of demonstrated ability, previous experience and office location;
  • Profit Distribution Scheme;
  • 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays);
  • Company pension scheme;
  • Accommodation and subsistence (£15 per day);
  • Training budget and time allowance to attend conferences;
  • Support for research;
  • Subscriptions to CIfA;
  • Flexible working; and
  • TOIL and sickness benefits
AOC Archaeology is a CIfA Registered Organisation and has ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Applications are by CV and covering letter.  Please send all applications to Dawn.McLaren@aocarchaeology.com quoting reference EDPXPOA1019.
