This is a rare opportunity to join the Archaeological Projects team based at Fort Cumberland and contribute through leadership and participation in a wide range of research projects and activities to meet Historic England’s corporate objectives. These include work for the English Heritage Trust, collaborations with universities and sectoral bodies, and the development of field schools and apprenticeships.
This role is varied and challenging, suitable for those with ambition to work in multi-disciplinary project teams whilst developing their skills and training especially in digital recording. Joining us, you will project manage and support others in initiating, planning, delivering, publishing and archiving archaeological projects. After receiving extensive training, you will provide training and support on our recording methods, Intrasis – our digital recording system, and survey to site staff. You will also contribute to the development of field schools and apprenticeships and promote the work of the team and HE through lectures, conference attendance and publications.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience of project management of archaeological excavation, familiarity in the use of modern survey kit, excellent interpersonal skills particularly working in inter-disciplinary teams, an ability to communicate effectively and clearly to a wide range of audiences, including through published reports, and a desire to grow your skills and experience, particularly in digital recording.
