Senior Archaeologist HCC31712 
Salary Range: £32,752 to £36,862 pro-rata, per annum (actual salary £19,651 – £22,117 per annum)
Work Location: Elizabeth II Court, Winchester
Hours per week: 22.2 (Full-Time hours will be considered)
Contract Type: Temporary (2 years)

We are part of a large, integrated, multi-disciplinary team offering a range of specialist environmental services to the County Council and other public authorities. 

Reporting to the County Archaeologist, this role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of historic environment advice to Hampshire County Council, to local authorities across Hampshire and to some other authorities. Applicants will need to have a sound knowledge of British archaeology, experience of formulating historic environment advice in planning and development contexts and will be closely familiar with the planning system. Experience in assessing the impact of development on the setting of historic buildings and landscapes would an added advantage

The applicant should be a Member of CIfA or be able to demonstrate an equivalent professional standing.

This post is part funded by the income generated from work for internal and external clients. Therefore, you will require a degree of commercial acumen, the ability to build and develop existing business relationships, and to grow new areas of work for the County Council. This will be a challenging role for a highly motivated, individual with a strong work ethic, flexible attitude, and the ability to confidently engage with a wide range of contacts at all levels.

You will need strong office IT skills, including GIS and MS Office, and to be able to drive and carry out site visits.
