Starting Salary from c.£23,500 per annum for Archaeologists, pro rata (depending on experience) and c.£26,500 per annum for Supervisors, pro rata

Our Company

Phoenix Consulting Archaeology Ltd are an established practice now in their 23rd year of operation.  We operate throughout the UK providing advice and services to the minerals and construction industry. We are a small, but successful company with an excellent and established client base.
 
The Positions
Phoenix Consulting Archaeology Ltd are looking for experienced field archaeologists for a variety of projects in the Midlands and East Anglia. 
Positions are immediately available for the right candidates on either an employed OR self-employed basis

Staff will likely be involved with the excavation of Prehistoric, Iron Age, Roman and Saxon settlements.

Requirements
The successful candidates should have a minimum of 6 months experience of site work in British commercial archaeology in the relative roles advertised. 
It would be preferable if applicants have a valid CSCS Card/Quarry Safety Passport or equivalent.
A current UK driving licence and membership of the CIfA is also desirable.

 
Supervisor candidates should be able to demonstrate experience of overseeing small and medium fieldwork teams in a variety of fieldwork projects (including watching briefs, evaluations and area excavations). They should also have experience of the post-excavation process.
 
Initial contract periods are likely to be 3 months, with an option to extend.
For employed contracts, benefits include, work-based pension scheme, assistance towards accommodation and travel, pro-rata holiday entitlement and sickness allowance.


 


Self-employed applicants should provide all-inclusive day-rates, contractual arrangements and provide evidence of their self-employed status.
They will be responsible for their own Tax and National Insurance requirements.
