PROJECT OFFICERS and SENIOR PROJECT OFFICERS

Location: Musselburgh Office, Scotland
Salary: PO - £25,014 to £29,317 and SPO - £29,785 to £31,738 (DOE / benefits / annual review)
Contracts: Full time (permanent) – 37.5 hours per week

Opportunity details:
CFA Archaeology are looking to appoint experienced and motivated Project Officers and Senior Project Officers to our growing Musselburgh, Scotland office. We are looking to fill these positions as soon as possible.
 
You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of British archaeology and the planning process (or equivalent overseas experience) and with experience of team leadership, fieldwork, recording and report production. You will possess the skills to ensure your work matches all relevant Project Designs, Briefs, and Specifications and complete schedules within resource allocations and timescales. You will also be effective at maintaining good relations with colleagues, clients and their agents, curatorial authorities, and visitors.

Essential Criteria for the Role:
  • Educated to degree-level in relevant discipline.
  • Proven supervisorial and leadership experience.
  • Experience in the supervision of plant.
  • Associate level membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (ACIfA minimum) or equivalent experience
  • Maintain job and role competencies including, Quality and Standards, Technical Capability, Written and Verbal Communication, Teamwork and Relationships, Time Management, Planning and Organisation, Responsibility and Professionalism, Mentoring and Delegation etc
  • Ability to work outdoors in sometimes challenging weather.
  • Excellent team-working and communication skills.
  • Listening to and supporting staff development.
  • Lead by example policies of diversity, dignity and respect in the workplace.
  • High levels of attention to detail, time-management and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A full UK driving licence.
 Experience in other areas, for example, TPS, GNSS, or GPS surveying would be advantageous. CSCS, SSSTS and other accreditations desirable.

Our projects range from castles, stately homes, world heritage sites, battlefields, prehistoric, Romano-British, and Anglo-Saxon settlements to industrial archaeology and the archaeology of war. We will learn your interests and preferences and always seek to match them with upcoming projects if we can. We can be flexible about which office you are based at and for report writing and post-excavation, are happy to accommodate home or office working or a mixture of both.
