Archaeology Consultant/Senior Consultant
Salary: £25,000 to £40,000 per year for full time, dependent on experience
Nature of post: Permanent position (subject to a 3 month probation period), Both full time and part time applications considered.
Introduction and description of the role
Landgage Heritage is a new and growing archaeology and heritage consultancy, which serves clients in England, Wales and Northern Ireland from our base in West Sussex. We work across many industries for a wide range of clients, with many diverse and interesting projects.
We are looking to recruit an archaeology consultant or senior consultant, to help us manage an increasing workload. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing company, with a chance to help manage and implement complex projects, gain valuable experience and skills, and with significant prospects for career development and promotion for a motivated individual.
Consultants would produce reports to support planning applications, such as archaeological desk-based assessments and ES chapters and would advise our clients in dealing with requirements for archaeological fieldwork. They would also use their knowledge and experience to advise clients of potential risks, to inform site appraisals and due diligence, and to provide sound and commercially aware advice.
Who we are looking for
We are open to applicants who are new to consultancy, as well as those who may already be experienced consultants who are looking for a new opportunity. While previous experience of consultancy is not essential, all archaeology consultants at Landgage Heritage must have meaningful commercial archaeological fieldwork experience, including experience of successful site and/or project management, report writing, as well as a good knowledge of British archaeology.
Applicants must also have a full UK drivers’ licence and be willing to travel regularly for site meetings and visits. Applicants should also be competent with Office software (MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and knowledge of GIS would be advantageous.
In addition, Senior Consultants should have either previous consultancy experience, and/or more significant project management experience. They should also have a good understanding of the legal and policy framework which governs archaeological remains within the planning system and should be able to advise clients confidently on more complex projects.
What we will provide
In return the successful applicant will receive:
While we would like to build a team at our base in Sussex, we also support remote working, and have projects throughout the country. We are therefore also interested to hear from individuals based in other parts of the UK.
- A competitive salary, including a bonus scheme
- Company Pension scheme
- Private health cover
- Employee life insurance policy
- Professional subscriptions paid
- 20 days of paid leave, increasing with length of service
- Paid Christmas shutdown and public holidays in addition to annual leave.
- Flexible working arrangements
- Support, mentoring and training to promote career and professional development
