Due to a sustained increased workload across multiple sites in Essex, we are seeking to expand the archaeology team to incorporate a new Senior Archaeologist. We are looking for an experienced fieldwork specialist who has experience in supervising teams of archaeologists, delivering archaeological projects, report writing, and post-excavation co-ordination skills. The successful candidate will need to meet the following:


  • Experience in running archaeological projects;
  • Experience in the archaeological supervision of plant;
  • A good working knowledge of British archaeology (both rural and urban);
  • Knowledge of DGPS surveying techniques;
  • A demonstrable portfolio of reports;
  • Ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative;
  • Ability to carry out prolonged manual work in an outdoor environment in all weather;
  • Good organisational skills;
  • Experience in managing small to medium sized teams;
  • Understanding of commercial archaeology and client liaison;
  • Up to date CSCS card (Academically Qualified Person or Professionally Qualified Person), or willingness to acquire one;
  • Clean driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles in UK;
  • Substantial knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD & English language;
  • Willingness to work away from home.


  • Experience of writing Publications;
  • Membership with CIfA (ACIfA or higher);
  • CAT & Genny training;
  • Banksman training;
  • First-aid training;
  • SSSTS training; Asbestos awareness.
