Senior Archaeological Consultant
Job Description:
We are looking for someone with a background in archaeological consulting and or experience working as a fieldwork manager/project officer for an Archaeological Contractor. Depending on your skills and our project requirements your work is likely to cover;
• Liaising with clients and stakeholders to deliver great outcomes for the historic environment
• Working with other professionals, including designers, engineers and environmental specialists, to solve problems for our clients
• Producing heritage assessment reports, including EIA, Heritage Statements and Archaeological Desk Based Assessments
• Designing archaeological fieldwork schemes that deliver public benefit and social value
• Managing archaeological contractors during fieldwork to deliver projects
• Supporting bid work and providing heritage inputs on multi-disciplinary tenders?
• Being part of a multi-disciplinary team who support each other with project work and professional development
Candidate Specification:
• Well-developed professional knowledge and understanding of British archaeology
• A relevant archaeological degree
• Competent research skills
• Competent IT skills
• Experience of Geographical Information Systems
• Experience of producing archaeological reports, including, written schemes of investigation and desk based assessments
• A strong understanding of how the historic environment fits within the UK planning system
• Experience designing, undertaking and directing archaeological fieldwork
• Strong communication, and presenting skills
• Experience of providing inputs into EIAs, DCOs and TWAOs
• Experience of archaeological fieldwork and/or supervision of archaeological works in the East of England
• A relevant master’s degree
Job Profile:
The Mott MacDonald Heritage Team has 27 staff based in Glasgow, Cambridge, Birmingham, Bristol, Reading, Leeds, Brighton, Altrincham and London. We span the heritage disciplines with specialist skills in archaeological and built heritage management. Due to expanding workload particularly in the Eastern England, we are looking for someone to support our team.
