Lincolnshire County Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Historic Environment Assistant (Records) to join its successful Historic Places Team – putting the historic environment at the heart of the county council's place-making role and planning service.

About the role

The successful candidate will assist with the management of the county's Historic Environment Record, which forms the basis of advice to planning authorities. They will be responsible for the implementation of polices in relation to data protection and data security. The post holder will look for ways to work with partners to enhance the record, promote research into the county's archaeology and promote the record to as wide an audience as possible. We are looking to use new media to widen access to and appreciation of the county's archaeological heritage. The successful candidate will be expected to work with a wide range of partners and communities to help understand, protect, promote and celebrate Lincolnshire's heritage.

About you

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate that they can work unsupervised at all levels of curatorial work, meet tight deadlines, have good communication skills and manage occasional heritage projects. The post-holder will be managed by the Senior Historic Environment Officer (Records).

To be successful you will ideally have a wide knowledge of British archaeology, archaeological field techniques and experience of managing complex data management systems and GIS.

Essential requirements include a degree in archaeology or a related subject. Experience of working in local authority curatorial services is highly desirable.
