Associate Director - Archaeology  

Salary: c£40k, dependent on experience.

HCUK Group is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Archaeological Consultant, at Associate Director level, to join its evolving environmental practice. We advise clients who are navigating the planning and development process, working with developers, planners, project managers and more. 
Fully home working, with the exception of site visits/meetings. Travel will be remunerated. Projects nationwide, with an emphasis on the south/south-east.  HCUK Group is a Registered Organisation with the CIfA.   
The Role:

  • Providing specialist advise to commercial clients on the archaeological potential of sites, and follow-on evaluation and mitigation measures as appropriate
  • Preparing supporting reports and desk-based assessments
  • Managing archaeological fieldwork and sub-contractors
  • Negotiating with local authorities, county archaeologists and stakeholders
  • Lead on cultural heritage inputs into all stages of EIA on allocated projects
Key Requirements:
  • The ability to ascertain and manage archaeological risks to developments
  • Consultancy experience, or industry-equivalent experience.
  • Managing fieldwork and fieldwork contractors
  • Procuring subcontractors
  • Track record of the production of desk-based assessments for planning and EIA led schemes
  • GIS skills
Who You Are:
  • Membership of CIfA (ACIfA or MCIfA level) and a full driver’s licence is essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively both on your own and as part of a team
