English Heritage cares for over 400 historic monuments, buildings and sites. Through these, we bring the story of England to life for over 10 million visitors each year. No matter what they do and where they do it, our people play their part in protecting and presenting some of the greatest places in England for the benefit and enjoyment of our visitors.

We are currently looking for an experienced architectural illustrator to produce computer-generated architectural and topographical graphics to the highest standard, especially for use in guidebooks and other publications, on-site graphic panels and computer interactives, and for online presentation.

You will have the knowledge and technical expertise to produce plans, sections and elevations, explanatory maps and other illustrations which will draw on existing material ranging from archived 'hard copy' plans (including historic material) and illustrations to digital vector and raster survey data. You will ensure the accuracy of these illustrations by visiting sites when and where appropriate in order to check against the surviving fabric. You will conduct site surveys when required, and convert digital survey data to final illustrations in both 2D and 3D software. You will help manage the compilation and maintenance of an archive of graphic information about English Heritage's properties.

A willing team player with a confident but approachable manner, you will have proven ability in architectural illustration and a high level of computer literacy in the relevant software, together with a knowledge and enthusiasm for architectural history. Sitting within the Guidebooks team in the Curatorial Department you will report to the Graphics Manager but also work closely with colleagues in other teams such as Interpretation, Historians and Properties Curators.

You will be rewarded by a unique experience to develop your career in a collaborative and empowering organisation. We also offer a broad benefits package which includes a generous pension scheme and 25 days annual leave, alongside the opportunity to take advantage of well-being benefits and discounts, which include free access to all English Heritage sites.

Closing date: 25 September 2017.
