WHO ARE WE?
Network Archaeology is soon to celebrate its 23rd birthday. We have evolved over the years and continue to encompass modern values and the ethics of our profession, and we have a great employment vision.
 
THE PROJECTS
Network Archaeology has a particular focus on nationally important infrastructure and large residential developments. We have just completed excavations for Lincolnshire County Council on the Lincoln Eastern Bypass; the largest archaeological project carried out in Lincolnshire to date. We excavated sites representing every archaeological period from the Palaeolithic to Post-Medieval; many of the findings are of national and international significance.

GIS Assistant (post-excavation)
£19,363 - £20,571 (depending on experience)
About you
  • Six months fieldwork experience
  • An interest in, and possibly some experience of, using GIS in archaeology
  • Basic ArcGIS skills: digitising, georeferencing, producing phased plans
  • Able to accurately follow processes
  • Good communicator
  • Methodical and analytical
  • Take the initiative
  • You are excited to work on a nationally important post-excavation project and further your GIS experience.
 
Role & Responsibilities
  • As a GIS assistant working on the Lincoln Eastern Bypass post-ex
  • Based at our Monks Way office in Lincoln as part of our friendly and motivated post-excavation team
  • You will use a range of software packages, including ArcGIS, MapInfo, Photoscan and Illustrator to digitise human remains from orthophotos, digitise section and plan drawings, georeference drawings and produce phased plans.
  • From time to time you may be asked to help out on other Network Archaeology projects, supporting the wider team in fieldwork, illustration or survey.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid CSCS card required for fieldwork.
  • Membership of CIfA is desirable
  • Applicants must be a British citizen, an EU national or hold a current Work Permit.
    • Proof of eligibility will be required prior to any offer of employment.
    • If you hold a Work Permit you need to send a copy with your CV.
