The Recruitment Team The Guildhall Alfred Gelder Street Hull HU1 2AA

The Humber Field Archaeology team work predominantly across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and are the largest archaeological service within East Yorkshire.  They operate from Hull, the current UK City of Culture, an important medieval and post-medieval trading port, while the surrounding East Riding is an important archaeological landscape containing extensive evidence of nationally-important prehistoric and later settlement.  Fieldwork can range from excavations in tight urban areas through to large rural sites, in an area of the country experiencing significant development pressure currently, with over £3billion of investment coming into Hull since 2012.  This post provides an opportunity for someone to lead this well recognised and established team into the future.
About you

You will need to be educated to degree level in archaeology or closely related subject (e.g. Archaeology and History; Archaeology and Geography).  You will have experience of leading complex and significant archaeological projects, providing an effective and efficient service from fieldwork through to reporting, and have experience of securing new archaeological contracts from private/public developers and Historic England. You will report directly to the Head of Planning alongside a number of other planning and development teams. Experience of working in partnership with a variety of public and private sector agencies is key along with a proven track record of managing others, and projects.
