Oxford Archaeology is one of the largest independent archaeological practices in Europe. Our size and reputation ensures that we work on the most exciting and varied range of projects, and can offer real opportunities for long term employment and career development.
At the 2016 CIfA Conference our Graduate Trainee programme was Highly Commended in the Archaeology Training Forum Awards. We have inducted over 100 trainees into the programme since early 2014, and many of them are still working for us, now as experienced excavators and supervisors.
OA East continues to have a busy programme until the end of the year and we are looking for experienced staff to join our field teams at all levels. We have field projects underway on rural sites in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Northamptonshire and we are particularly interested in candidates based in these areas. We also have away deployments in Lincolnshire and candidates based nearby or wishing to be deployed there with accommodation should also consider applying.
OA South has a busy programme for the coming months including excavations on a long-running scheme in Dorset which is revealing interesting archaeology in a county renowned for its prehistoric past. We also have numerous other sites, both large and small situated both in our Oxfordshire heartland and further afield in Gloucestershire, East Sussex, Essex, Buckinghamshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
OA operate a policy of single rooms for all away-based staff.
Staff who successfully complete the scheme will, subject to the availability of work, be offered permanent contracts at Archaeologist level and will be enrolled on our new 'Archaeologist to Assistant Supervisor' training scheme, which provides a clear path for career development, once the required level of experience is reached.
What we offer:
