Archaeology Warwickshire is a cadre of experts who successfully deliver high-quality, professional archaeology and heritage services across the midlands, to a range of private and public sector clients. Our core ethos for continual professional development and the advancement of local expertise has enabled us to thrive commercially whilst not losing sight that people come first. We don’t believe in wilful expansion and contraction at the expense of our teammates on behalf of the market.
Now a valuable team member is relocating out of our core area for personal reasons and we wish to recruit an experienced project officer.
We know this won’t be an easy task – it’s never easy to replace a teammate and we will consider a less experienced, but exceptional candidate as an Assistant Archaeological Officer (Level 3 starting at £24,491) with an expectation of promotion once proven in project delivery.
We are looking for a professional archaeologist with a few years commercial experience in Britain who wants to work on a broad range of heritage projects. The successful candidate will understand the planning process; will have carried out watching briefs and written reports; will have run multi-trench evaluations and written reports; will have directed or supervised excavations and have demonstrable experience in report and archive production.
Once part of our team you can expect extensive and fully-funded training, opportunities to develop specialisms, a healthy work-life balance not predicated on crisscrossing the country and to be treated with respect. We support each other to be the best we can be.
If you would like an informal chat or any further information regarding what it is like to work at Archaeology Warwickshire, please do not hesitate to contact anyone in our team.
Although you will work from our bespoke new base in Leamington Spa, fieldwork will mostly be within one hour of the office. You will be given a fully enabled Microsoft Surface Pro and flexible home-working will be positively encouraged.
We are a CIfA Registered Organisation and as a Warwickshire County Council trading group can offer:
• 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) rising to 38 after 4 years),
• 37 hr working week,
• flexible working which includes flexitime,

• High-quality accommodation for away work (more than 1 hr travel)
• access to cycle scheme,
• childcare vouchers,
• A range of staff discounts,
• 100% CIfA fees and conference costs paid
