Capturing the Past is a seven-year project (2016-22) managed by Friends of the Dales that aims to identify vulnerable collections of historic material, and to make them freely available on a dedicated website. We are seeking a Project Leader to manage and develop the Capturing the Past archiving project over the next two years.
Working with the project team and local history groups in the Yorkshire Dales, the successful applicant will identify vulnerable archives and add new collections to the website; provide
advice, training and support to volunteers; raise awareness of the project; and develop the website and use the archive resource to raise the profile of Friends of the Dales.
This is a temporary freelance post for one year initially, expected to average 3 days per month. Largely home-based, the post will suit someone based in or near Craven District (The Friends of the Dales office is in Gargrave). The pattern of work will be irregular; weekend and evening working may be required. Salary: within the range £150 - £225 per day, depending upon the level of skills and experience.
