SENIOR FINDS OFFICER / FINDS OFFICER
Salary range £24,573 - £32,630 (Dependent on experience)
Andover or Milton Keynes
As one of the leading archaeological practices in Britain we are looking to strengthen our specialist team and to ensure we have the capacity and breadth of skills to maintain our own high standards of service.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Finds Officer or Finds Officer to join our well-respected and successful Publications team, and to ensure timely delivery of our Post-Excavation obligations. Responsibilities will include the co-ordination and undertaking of finds project work, general spot dating, providing specialist advice to colleagues and contributing to the successful co-ordination of the CA finds work programme, as well as contributing to ensuring quality standards and improving efficiency across the organisation.
You will have demonstrable specialist knowledge (desirably ceramics-related: Iron Age,Roman and/or post-Roman of southern England), a proven track record in archaeological publication, and experience of computer applications used for the recording and analysis of archaeological finds. Most importantly you will be an excellent and proactive communicator, capable of working both individually and as part of a wider project team. Ideally you will be full-time and based in our Andover office, but for the right candidate we would consider flexible and/or part-time working. Although the post may be based in Andover or Milton Keyes, as part of the wider CA Finds team, there will be the opportunity to work on assemblages from across southern Britain.
You will require excellent time-management and organisational skills to ensure the successful delivery of a busy work programme to industry standards and within budget and to deadline. Ideally you are already a member of CIfA (or able to demonstrate that you meet the requirements for membership) and relevant specialist Finds groups, and possess a full manual driving licence.
In return we are able to offer assistance with relocation expenses in addition to an attractive benefits package which includes 23 days annual leave (rising with service), paid sick leave, life assurance and a pension scheme.
