We have an exciting programme of work planned for 2021 and are recruiting for people at all grades to join our Northampton and Basingstoke field teams. As one of the largest independent archaeological organisations in the UK, MOLA can offer a wide range of interesting, exciting and challenging projects, of all types and periods. Recent highlights of works undertaken from these offices include a waterlogged Anglo-Saxon cemetery with preserved coffins, Neolithic burials, a causewayed enclosure, extensive Iron Age and Roman settlements and part of a medieval manorial complex.

Pay range: Starting from £21,013
Hours:
Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Locations: Northampton or Basingstoke based, but travel to sites across the UK will be required
Duration: Fixed-term (6 months), with the possibility of extension dependent on work programme

Ideally, successful applicants for our Archaeologist position should have at least three months’ commercial fieldwork experience in the UK, although relevant experience from other countries or significant non-commercial experience will also be considered. We are ideally looking for people with experience on a range of site-types and periods, and who are comfortable working on large and complex rural projects.

We are pleased to be able to offer a relocation incentive of up to £1000 (subject to eligibility) to help with the costs of moving closer to Northampton or Basingstoke. Successful candidates may also apply to MOLA to receive considerable financial support with learning to drive and paid time off work to attend lessons. CIfA membership and application fees are paid by MOLA in full.

We have a number of large and exciting projects across the South and East of England, the Midlands and beyond. Most projects are based within commuting distance of Northampton or Basingstoke, for which transport is provided from our offices, including paid time for drivers. For or projects further away, MOLA will provide high-quality accommodation and subsistence during the week, which we ensure are all fully COVID-compliant. Away work should be considered a normal part of this role.

This is an ideal opportunity to join a thriving friendly team, with opportunities for training and career development. In addition to our commercial fieldwork, MOLA is heavily involved in academic research and public engagement through our specialist teams, and welcome applicants with long term career goals who wish to grow and develop with the company.

Offers will be made to suitable candidates before the closing date, so early applications are advised.

Please note:  We have comprehensive COVID-19 plans in place and are following all current Government and Public Health England guidance on establishing and maintaining a safe working environment during COVID-19 (www.archaeologists.net/practices/coronavirus/siteworking).  We are in constant dialogue with clients and staff representatives and we’re doing all we can to ensure all staff can continue to work and operate safely while travelling to site, working on site, and working in our offices.   All new starters will receive a thorough and up to date health and safety briefing.
