As one of the leading archaeological practices in Britain we are looking to strengthen our specialist team and ensure we have the capacity and breadth of skills to maintain our high standards of service.
We are seeking a highly experienced Finds specialist with excellent organisational and communication skills to lead, manage and further develop our Finds teams in our Suffolk & Milton Keynes offices. Responsibilities will include the programming and co-ordination of finds work to meet project deadlines, the undertaking of specialist finds work (to sector and publication standard), quality assurance, and the management, training and development of the Finds team. You will be responsible for ensuring a high level of quality and standard of work within the Finds team, and for improving efficiency across the organisation.
You will have substantial specialist ceramic knowledge (ideally covering the later prehistoric, Roman and/or post-Roman periods of southern England) and experience within developer-funded archaeology in Britain, with an established track record in archaeological publication, and experience of computer applications for the recording and analysis of finds. A broad knowledge of other finds is desirable. You will also be a great organiser, capable of the successful delivery of a busy work programme to standard, budget and deadline; and an excellent and proactive communicator, capable of working both individually and as part of wider project teams across the company. Ideally you are already a member of the CIfA (or are able to demonstrate that you meet the requirements for full membership) and other relevant specialist groups, and possess a full manual driving licence.
If you meet these criteria and are looking to develop your specialist career with an organisation that is committed to high quality finds work and to publishing the results of our endeavours, we would love to hear from you. We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, generous relocation expenses and an attractive benefits package that includes 30 days annual leave, paid sick leave, paid membership of CIfA, life assurance and a pension scheme.
