As one of the leading archaeological practices in Britain we are looking to strengthen our specialist team and ensure we have the capacity and breadth of skills to maintain our high standards of service.
We are seeking a highly motivated Finds specialist to join our well respected and successful Publications team and help ensure the timely delivery of finds work at our Andover office and beyond. Responsibilities will include the co-ordination and undertaking of finds project work, general spot dating, providing specialist advice to colleagues and contributing to the successful co-ordination of the CA finds work programme, as well as contributing to ensuring quality standards and improving efficiency across the organisation.
You will have considerable specialist ceramic knowledge (ideally covering the later prehistoric, Roman and/or post-Roman periods of southern England), a proven track record in archaeological publication, and experience of computer applications used for the recording and analysis of archaeological finds. You will be an excellent and proactive communicator, capable of working both individually and as part of a wider project team. The post is based in Andover but as part of the wider CA Finds team there will be the opportunity to work on assemblages from across southern Britain. You will require excellent time-management and organisational skills to ensure the successful delivery of a busy work programme to industry standards and within budget and to deadline. Ideally you are already a member of CIfA (or able to demonstrate that you meet the requirements for full or associate membership) and relevant specialist Finds groups, and possess a full manual driving licence.
If you meet these criteria and are looking to develop your specialist career with an organisation that is committed to high quality finds work and to publishing the results of our endeavours, we would love to hear from you. We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, generous relocation expenses and an attractive benefits package that includes 23 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), paid sick leave, paid membership of CIfA, life assurance and a pension scheme.
