ARCHAEOLOGICAL PROJECT MANAGERS, TEAM LEADERS and ARCHAEOLOGISTS
Projects are UK wide and will not necessarily be on a well known infrastructure project
Red River Archaeology Ltd is part of Red River Archaeology Group a CIfA Registered Organisation, which is the only major archaeological contractor with offices in both the UK and Ireland. Red River Archaeology has bases in Edinburgh and Cardiff and Barnard Castle, providing services across the UK.
Red River Archaeology Ltd was established in 2018, although Group elements have held a presence in the UK since 2012. Archaeological Project Manager
We are looking for someone educated to degree level in an appropriate subject and with experience of fieldwork management in commercial archaeology, or someone wanting to make the transition from fieldwork to management.
Responsibilities include delivery of the safe planning, implementation and completion of archaeological projects to the highest professional quality; team leadership and staff skills development; participation in company business management, business development and marketing Tender writing experience would be advantageous.
A full clean driving licence and current CSCS card are essential. SMSTS qualification (or similar) will be advantageous. MCIFA membership welcomed. The position is a permanent role and is subject to a 6 month probation period.
Salary £32,000 - £42,000 and will be dependent on proven experience.
Archaeological Team Leaders (Project Officers and Project Supervisors)
The successful candidates will be expected to supervise a range of projects according to skills and experience. They should have demonstrable experience of successfully supervising projects and be flexible, driven and innovative, with excellent communication skills. Applications are welcome from ambitious individuals who wish to develop their career rapidly. Support will be provided to the successful applicants in the form of training and mentoring from the experienced management team at Red River.
Potential candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Appropriate experience of leading and participating in the archaeological fieldwork and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Varied archaeological experience (rural and urban)
- Good knowledge of British archaeology
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks
- Understanding of commercial archaeology and client liaison
- Knowledge of Health & Safety considerations pertaining to archaeology
- Flexibility with regard to travel
A full clean driving licence and current CSCS card are essential. SSSTS or SMSTS qualifications (or similar) will be advantageous. CIfA membership welcomed. Positions are initially for 12 months and are subject to a 6 month probation period.
Salary range: Team leaders dependent on skills, experience and responsibility £24,606 to £30,804 pa
We are looking for individuals to carry out archaeological fieldwork with at least three months UK or Irish commercial archaeology experience, although relevant European commercial experience will also be considered. Applicants should be able to work well as part of a team and have a flexible approach to what is often a dynamic working environment. CSCS card is essential.
Red River is committed to training and CPD for all our staff across the company. Our training plans are CIfA accredited and we have adopted the BAJR Skills Passport to help develop and document our team’s fieldwork skills and a completed training log from this or a similar scheme will be advantageous.
Trainees can expect a salary of £20,508pa inclusive of our CIfA accredited training programme and BAJR skills passport and archaeologists can expect £21,507 - £22,609 pa for PCIfA level skills and experience, with appointments made on the basis of demonstrated ability, previous experience and CIfA membership as appropriate.
