Archaeology Warwickshire successfully deliver high-quality, professional archaeology and heritage services across the midlands, to a range of private and public sector clients. Our core ethos for continual professional development and the advancement of local expertise has enabled us to thrive commercially whilst not losing sight that our people come first.
We are looking for graduates with a keen interest in British archaeology who want to be trained on a broad range of heritage projects to begin, or continue, their career in commercial archaeology. In common with our competitors, you can expect to be trained how to dig and record, safely and to a professional standard. Unlike most training schemes you can also expect opportunities to learn post-excavation techniques including illustration, analysis, report writing and archiving.
Archaeology Warwickshire’s CIfA approved training scheme (courtesy of Oxford Archaeology) is designed so that successful candidates will undergo intensive training over an initial 12 week period and subject to satisfactory progress, will thereafter be offered a further 12 weeks training. It is expected that completion of the programme will enable individuals to apply for PCIfA. Discretionary extensions of six weeks for each phase may be granted: the process will therefore take a minimum of 24 weeks and up to a maximum of 36 weeks, after which it is likely that additional or permanent contracts will be offered.
Once part of our team you can expect extensive and fully-funded training, opportunities to develop specialisms, a healthy work-life balance and to be treated with respect. We support each other to be the best we can be.
All staff are paid for the travel time and milage outside their normal commute to the office. High-quality, single room, accommodation and subsistence is offered for away work over an hour from the office. Agile working contracts allow everybody to work from home when needs must and even arrange the working day around child care.

Please send your CV along with at least 1000 words explaining what you think has been the most important recent advancement in British archaeology and why you want a career in commercial archaeology to
