ORCA was established in 2007 and offers services in archaeology and geophysics. Prior to ORCA being set up archaeological services were provided by ORCA’s prior incarnation as the Projects Unit of the Orkney Archaeological Trust which had built up an excellent reputation and a regular client base.
The ORCA Geophysics was established in 2004 as an integral part of the Archaeology Department. It is equipped with a wide range of the latest equipment and has undertaken commercial work throughout Scotland. It is now expanding into environmental site investigation.
In recent years, in collaboration with SULA Diving, ORCA’s involvement in all aspects of both the land-based and marine Renewable Energy sector has been expanding. Our capabilities include environmental impact assessments, historic environment consultancy, environmental and archaeological geophysics, geomatics, marine archaeology, exploration geophysics, archaeological sciences, geoarchaeology and diving science
