Providing quality teaching in all you need to gain the skills of a professional archaeologist. Record your training outcomes in the BAJR Archaeology Skills Passport or just enjoy the discovery and camaraderie of being part of an archaeological project. It is worth pointing out that many local societies also have ongoing projects if you join one in your local area.

When considering a project, contact the director for more details about conditions, travel, logistics etc. Request specific information or references if needed – are they established? Do they offer accreditation and have they published previous work in reputable journals? BAJR may remove or deny postings if we decide that the field school does not meet the criteria for safeguarding participants, providing adequate training or is in any way discriminatory. Field schools and Volunteer projects should provide a safe space for all participants, recorded training if requested (using the Archaeology Skills Passport) and consider all opportunities for public engagement.
