About The Role

Title: Trainee Project Archaeologist
Salary: £26,341 per annum
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week
Location: York*
Contract: Fixed Term

York Archaeology delivers commercial archaeological services from offices at York, Sheffield and Nottingham.  The organisation provides world-famous heritage attractions, including excavation, survey, consultancy, expert conservation services, research, and an unmatched commitment to dissemination, engagement, and public benefit.

Posts of up to 6 months are available for Graduate Trainees at our York office, with good potential for extension following successful completion of the training programme.

Trainees (under 6 months experience) will receive one on one training. Skills acquisition and development will be documented in regular meetings with a key contact and measured against key competencies outlined in our Career Development Manual and the skills passport.

*Applicants will be expected to work locally within the region and farther afield, the latter for extended periods of time and involving staying away from home Monday-Friday; accommodation, transport and subsistence funds will be provided.    

Essential criteria:

  •       A degree in archaeology or related discipline and an appropriate level of demonstrable experience
